ලොව දස අත විසිරී ඇති
සුදු කළු වූ මිනිසුන් සැම
ලේ නෑයන් වූ මා හට
මව් පිය නෑයන් කුමට ද?
බිම් අඟලක උරුමය ගැන
ලියවුණු පත් ඉරු කුමට ද?
ලොව දස අත පැතිරී ගිය
බිම් උරුමය ලද මා හට
සුදු කළු වූ මිනිසුන් සැම
ලේ නෑයන් වූ මා හට
මව් පිය නෑයන් කුමට ද?
බිම් අඟලක උරුමය ගැන
ලියවුණු පත් ඉරු කුමට ද?
ලොව දස අත පැතිරී ගිය
බිම් උරුමය ලද මා හට
My Sri Lanka
"My Sri Lanka is an arranged marriage,
I cannot divorce her.
I cannot just leave her behind Like a postal bride.
Sri Lanka follows me like my shadow. ..."

Dream down under
"..only the mute sea connects him to the forgotten memories and rather cheerful life he spent in the motherland. This is one of the best poems to come from a Sri Lankan expatriate writer.
The poem is marked for its brevity in expression and sparing use of metaphors like 'Kalu dodol' from the motherland."
